On Thursday, September 5, Oak Partners, Inc. financial services firm held its annual golf outing at Innsbrook Country Club in Merrillville. This year’s outing marked the 20th anniversary of the event and saw 120 Oak Partners, staff members, partners, advisors, and clients participate. Clint Henry, financial advisor and partner at Oak Partners, has been a member of Innsbrook for the past 10 years. As the golfer of the Oak Partners principal management group, he has taken up the responsibility of coordinating the golf outing.
“The golf outing is all about giving back to our clients and taking the opportunity to spend time with them,” Henry said. “They’ve been so loyal to us over the years, so this is one of the ways we thank them for that. I often take my clients golfing and I find that it’s a great way to bond. We get about four-and-a-half hours together to enjoy the game and talk about our lives or our families, which aren’t things one would typically discuss in a formal business setting. It’s a really great way to develop more personal connections between clients and partners. I hope that everyone has a good time and goes home happy. The weather is beautiful and I think we’re in for a great event today.”
After partaking in a delicious breakfast, the golfers took to the course amid much lighthearted banter and conversation. As they golfed, they enjoyed donuts along with ice-cold beer, wine, water, and soda. Crystal DeHaven, director of client experience at Oak Partners, appreciates the opportunity to interact with Oak Partners’ clients during the golf outing.
“This is an opportunity for us to hang out with our clients in a more informal setting and have some fun,” DeHaven said. “The golf outing is, by far, one of my favorite events of the year. We truly have a family-oriented culture in our office. Because we have been involved with so many milestone events in our clients' lives over the years, we’ve developed that deep sense of camaraderie with them, too. They’ve become more than just our friends, they’re our family. We share something very special with this group of people. I hope that everyone participating in the outing today has some laughs and enjoys spending time with one another.”
This is the 15th year that Anibal “Billy” Campos, an Oak Partners client of 27 years and one of the golfers, has participated in the annual golf outing. He holds Oak Partners in very high esteem and is pleased to be participating in the golf outing this year.
“It’s great to be with the advisors and other clients,” Campos said. “We always enjoy spending time with one another. I brought my friends to golf here today and they are planning to become clients of Oak Partners. This is a great opportunity for people to experience the free and easy way that Oak Partners conducts business. The advisors are never pushy during the golf outing and don’t view this as merely an opportunity to gain clients. I’ve traveled throughout the United States and I have yet to see another financial services firm give back to its clients with events like this. The golf outing is excellent and I think that is characteristic of the firm as a whole.”
