As the first glimpse of spring began to show itself in Northwest Indiana, Oak Partners held their seond annual ice skating event to celebrate their clients and have some fun. Not too warm yet for a little skating, William E. Urschel Pavilion in Valparaiso was alight with all the colors of the rainbow as parents and children alike donned their ice skates and glided out eagerly onto the ice.
Guests were also sipping from warm hot chocolate and other refreshments while mingling with the men and women of Oak Partners, who were all too happy to be putting on such a fun event for their clients.
“It’s nice to catch a different group of people and do something unique for everyone,” said Mark Ruiz, Team Leader at Oak Partners. “We do a lot of educational events for our clients, but we want to appeal to every demographic of person and keep everyone involved and engaged.”
Clients were certainly engaged with parents and grandparents, merrily ushering their little ones across the ice to keep falls to a minimum. Brothers and sisters pushed each other across the ice, getting braver with each lap around the rink as the music rang out over the loudspeaker above.
Having held a dinner at Gamba Ristorante to show their appreciation for their clients a few months ago, Oak Partners were excited to show this gratitude through a lighter event that the children could also take advantage of. At this prior event, Wealth Advisor and Partner, Mike Barancyk referred to the family approach that Oak Partners takes with its clients, and why they strive to make the strong connections they do.
“We feel strongly about that connection and as we progress forward with you, that we form a tight bond,” said Barancyk.
Growing that bond is part of what makes Oak Partners stand out amongst the competition.
“I like this event because we get to meet a lot of our clients’ children and grandchildren who they are always talking about with us,” explained Crystal DeHaven, Director of Client Experience at Oak Partners. “It brings out different clients and it’s just a lot of fun, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
The previous ice skating event was called off due to extreme weather conditions in early February when Northwest Indiana was hit with a fearsome winter storm.
Now, with a little hot cocoa in their bellies and an evening full of laughter out on the colorfully lit ice, the clients of Oak Partners could surely feel the warmth of such a fun-filled evening and a last hurrah for winter.
