Northwest Health – Porter announces recipients of Caregiver Awards

Northwest Health – Porter recently honored two caregivers: Makenzie Marx, RN, was the recipient of the DAISY award for exceptional nursing and Amber Jordan, a patient care technician, was the recipient of the PETALS award for outstanding support professionals.

Marx received a compilation of glowing nominations from patients and their family members. One shared that she felt blessed having Makenzie as her nurse and added that she doesn’t often meet such a beautiful soul. Another patient said that Makenzie helped make her stay in the hospital more comfortable and wrote, “Makenzie never did anything without a smile on her face. She is amazing!”

Jordan was nominated by an appreciative co-worker who shared that Amber is one of the best aides that she has ever worked with. She added that Amber goes above and beyond for her patients every day and makes her want to be a better nurse. She wrote, “I always know when I see Amber my day will go better. She is going to become an amazing nurse.”

DAISY award recognitions honor the remarkable work nurses do every day – wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve throughout their entire careers. It was established to celebrate the extraordinary compassion that nurses, like Marx, continually provide their patients and families.  Nurses may be nominated by employees, patients and hospital visitors.

The PETALS award honors non-nursing professionals, like Jordan, for their exceptional skills and support.  PETALS award recipients can also be nominated by patients, visitors and employees.
