Northwest Health – La Porte Announces Recipients of Caregiver Awards

Northwest Health – La Porte recently honored two caregivers: Rachel Faucher, RN, was the recipient of the DAISY award for exceptional nursing and Ashley Hall, a certified nursing assistant (CNA), was the recipient of the PETALS award for outstanding support professionals.

Faucher, a nurse on the Birthing & Family Care unit, was nominated by a fellow nurse who had also been a patient under Faucher’s care when she delivered her baby.  In her nomination letter, she applauded Rachel for her confidence, knowledge and compassion. She wrote, “Northwest Health is so lucky to have a nurse like Rachel. I and my family could not be more grateful and thankful for her.”

Hall, a CNA on the medical/surgical unit, was nominated by a patient’s family who shared that Ashley made an amazing difference during a very difficult time. In their letter they shared that Ashley was a ray of light, joy and support in the middle of a tough week. They wrote, “Above all Ashley was caring and compassionate. She had a great attitude and kept us smiling as much as possible.”

DAISY award recognitions honor the remarkable work nurses do every day – wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve throughout their entire careers. It was established to celebrate the extraordinary compassion that nurses, like Faucher, continually provide their patients and families.  Nurses may be nominated by employees, patients and hospital visitors.

The PETALS award honors non-nursing professionals, like Hall, for their exceptional skills and support.  PETALS award recipients can also be nominated by patients, visitors and employees.
