Northwest Health celebrates community with ribbon cutting at new facility in Portage

Northwest Health celebrated the grand opening of the newest addition to their ever-growing network of healthcare locations across Northwest Indiana.

Located at 6200 Central Avenue in Portage, this new Northwest Medical Group Primary Care office aims to serve the community by offering a medical “home base,” a place where people cannot just go to seek medical care, but where they can grow a lasting relationship with their medical providers.

Ashley Dickinson, CEO of Northwest Health, is glad to be able to expand their coverage in the Portage area by offering a more comprehensive standard of care.

“We’re here to provide medical care for the entire population, people of all ages from birth through their sunset years,” Dickinson said. “Our goal for this facility is for it to be a medical home for the entire family. We want patients to be able to establish a longer relationship with their doctors.”

Kelly Credit, Northwest Health’s Market Director of Marketing and Community Relations, feels that the new location is key to providing exceptional care to the community.

“We feel that this is a growing area, and one of our goals is to always be close to where our patients live and work. We feel that this location provides that,” Credit said.

The new medical center, located in the former Chase Bank building, has been extensively remodeled to provide comprehensive family medical care. Community leaders and staff celebrated the long-awaited day with high spirits and light refreshments.

“We’ve got a great turn-out today!” said Nancy Simpson, Executive Director of the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce. “Northwest Health actually was recently given an award from the chamber for their commitment to community improvement and their investment in the area.”

Portage Mayor Sue Lynch stopped by to acknowledge the grand opening.

“This new building is just gorgeous, and there is a real need for more medical groups in this area along Central Avenue here in Portage," Mayor Lynch said. "This will serve a greater purpose, providing quality healthcare to area residents. It will be a great asset to the community, and it’s something that has been much needed for a long time.”
