“There’s nothing better than a trunk or treat. We love to put this on for our team because our culture is all about family. This is a chance for families from all over the hospital to come together and have fun. The kids get to dress up, the parents get to relax – it’s just a great way to give everyone a break and enjoy the holiday,” said Keith Nichols, CEO of Northwest Health - La Porte.

The creativity of the trunks and costumes stole the show and included the Wizard of Oz, Super Mario, Toy Story, pirates and Barbie-themed costumes and trunks to name a few.

“The costumes just get better every year. I love seeing the creativity of the kids and the staff that take part. People do matching family costumes and see one another’s and say they’re going to try something even better next year. It’s that fun-loving competition each year and I love to see it,” said Nichols.

Kids ran around joyfully with candy stuffed in each hand and adorable face paintings adorning their cheeks. Every staff member who participated in the event loved having the opportunity to give back to their community with their coworkers in a different way than they’re used to.

“We already work so well together to help people and save lives, but here we get to be together in a more fun, lighthearted way,” said Allie Miller, pharmacist.

The Northwest Health team members also loved getting the opportunity to grow even closer with one another and spend time with each other's families.

“It’s great getting to see all of our coworkers’ kids all dressed up. We talk so much about our families at work, so it’s nice to actually get to meet and see one another rather than just seeing pictures of kids on phones. It’s so much fun,” said Tiphanie Liberman, pharmacy technician.

Northwest Health ultimately couldn’t have come up with a better way to show its team members how much they care.

“I hope everyone feels recharged. I hope everyone had fun with their kids. I hope everyone left here feeling that we want to support them in any way we can,” said Nichols.
