NITCO’s Annual Business Bash celebrates business customers throughout Northwest Indiana

On Thursday, January 16, NITCO hosted a business bash at Aberdeen Manor for many businesses throughout Northwest Indiana. The celebration provided people with a chance to browse and learn what the other businesses in attendance were all about.

Marketing Assistant Kimberly Lock believes this annual business party creates a great atmosphere for everyone who makes an appearance.

“This is my second year doing this event,” Lock said. “Last year, we hosted it at Journeyman Distillery for about 150 business customers. We’re trying to go to different areas to bring together our customers and other businesses for an evening where they can mingle and get their names out there. We also do some drawings and giveaways for the people in attendance.”

With a wide variety of businesses showing up to this year’s event, NITCO values this as an opportunity to go into detail about what services their organization has to offer.

“We’re hopeful that events like this one will help get our name out there and introduce people to all the new fiber we’re building in the Region,” Lock said. “We want to show people what we’re working on when it comes to internet and phone services.”

NITCO Senior Sales and Marketing Vice President Tom Carroll enjoys listening to the wants and needs of the customers at this event.

“There’s a lot of people that we see at this event who we know are going to be customers someday,” Carroll said. “This is a great opportunity to bring local businesses in for an easygoing networking session. We’re always listening to the needs of our customers and this night allows our sales staff to interact with them directly.”

Carroll cherishes any chance that their team has to connect directly with the customers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it prevented businesses like NITCO from having this opportunity as often.

“Building relationships in sales is everything,” Carroll said. “We get plenty of comments and emails from everybody who comes to our events. It’s amazing how many supporters are in our corner. Now that a lot more people are finally comfortable getting out again after the pandemic, it’s great to talk a little bit about business and enjoy each other’s company.”

Moving forward, NITCO is excited to make new connections and carry out existing ones with them when they host this event again next year.

“I think this is one of the best events that we’ve done,” Lock said. “I hope to see it continue to grow over the years. We’ve already started discussing thoughts for next year to keep things fresh for when that time comes around.”

As for what to expect from NITCO in 2025, the company plans to continue creating fiber everywhere throughout the Region.

“We’ve been doing work in Valparaiso, Chesterton, East Chicago, Hebron, Demotte, Rensselaer and there’s even more to come,” Carroll said. “We’re working really hard to continue to build out fiber to the homes of all of our residential customers. We couldn’t do it without the support of our entire team, from the sales department to our three construction crews.”
