NITCO Connects with Happy Customers for Sixth Annual Customer Appreciation Day

NITCO is all about making connections, whether it’s connecting their customers to some of the fastest, most reliable internet and phone service available, or connecting with customers themselves. NITCO representatives once again demonstrated their commitment to those customers and to the community they serve by hosting their sixth annual Customer Appreciation Day at the NITCO home office in Hebron, Indiana.

“This is a celebration of all of our customers - past, present and future,” said Tom Carroll, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing at NITCO. “It’s a way for us to say ‘thank you!’ to those customers who have allowed us to provide reliable service for them over the past 80 years.”

NITCO began in 1939 as a telephone company, and over the years has grown into an advanced technology company, providing internet and fiber communications to over 8,000 Northwest Indiana residents and over 900 local businesses.

Carroll was excited to see the amazing turnout, as the lines for ice cream and hot dogs continued to grow, with more people arriving by the minute.

“It’s basically a block party. Last year, we saw about 800 visitors come, and this year, we’re hoping to welcome over 1,000,” said Carroll.

Cassy Huber, Sales and Marketing at NITCO was pretty excited about it, too.

“We wanted to do something to thank our customers. We get to talk with them over the phone all the time, but this is a chance to meet with them, and lets us put a face with those voices. We appreciate all the support we get from our customers and the community, and we wanted to take this opportunity to give a little back to those who have given us so much over the years,” said Huber.

Huber also hinted at a new and exciting product which NITCO will be introducing later this fall: Skitter TV.

“It will be ipTV - television over your internet connection. We will also be offering security products soon, though we do not yet have a time frame for that,” said Huber.

Communities currently served by NITCO include Valparaiso, Portage, Demotte, Hebron, Wheatfield, Lakes of the Four Seasons, Crown Point, Lowell and Kouts, with more areas coming soon, according to Huber.

“If you’re not sure if you can get NITCO in your area, just give us a call. We take customer inquiries largely into account when deciding where we should expand to next,” said Huber.

Families and people of all ages came to the event to grab a hot dog and maybe get a temporary Tattoo from Aggies Creations, or to meet with on-air personalities from Indiana 105.

The dunking booth proved a very popular attraction, with scores of children lining up for a chance to connect with the red target and dunk a NITCO employee into the tank

Gill Knip of Twist and Smile Balloons was on hand to twist balloons into smiles, crafting swords and animals at the request of children, and Blue Chip Casino sent their King of the Road food truck, serving up their signature mac n’ cheese and hot dogs. Valpo Velvet was there too, proudly serving up some of the region’s very best ice cream creations.

Rachel Wireman has been a lifelong Hebron resident, and has been a happy NITCO customer for the past two years.

“We live in a house which was newly constructed,” said Wireman. “When we were looking to get internet service, other companies said that they would charge us $2,000 to provide service, because they had to run a new line to our house.”

“We called NITCO, and they came out and got us hooked up for nothing more than the normal monthly charge.”

Wireman says that her parents have been NITCO customers for many years, and she never misses the Customer Appreciation Day event.

“This is my sixth time here. NITCO is a great company, and this is a great event,” said Wireman. “I recommend the ice cream - it’s great!”
