NITCO Brings the Community Together During 5th Annual Customer Appreciation Day

On the morning of Wednesday, August 3, the NITCO headquarters in Hebron was decorated with tie-dye shirts and smiles. It was the 5th Annual NITCO Customer Appreciation event, and Hebron residents of all ages celebrated with joy in the summer heat.

NITCO Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing Tom Carroll said, “The reason we do events like today’s is because the customers genuinely appreciate it. People in the community are so grateful, and that means a lot. Today isn’t about selling a product or service; it’s about uniting the community for a great time!”

NITCO (Northwestern Indiana Telephone Company, Inc.) is Northwest Indiana’s premier provider of broadband, telecommunications, fiber infrastructure, and telephone service. NITCO serves quite an extensive range of citizens. Its services expand through Lake, Porter, Jasper, and Newton counties. The company regularly prioritizes customer service by hosting several community events to engage citizens. This is the company’s fifth year hosting their Customer Appreciation Day, and NITCO employees made it clear that is was one of their favorite days of the year.

NITCO Customer Appreciation Event Coordinator Tammy Gray said, “It’s been wonderful to see the event grow over the past five years. It is always such a rewarding experience to see the impact we are able to make with community events like this. We truly do appreciate our customers, so today we have the chance to show them.”

Lunch during the celebration was provided by NITCO, Blue Chip Casino’s “King of the Road” Food Truck, and Valparaiso’s very own Designer Desserts. NITCO employees were out and about, interacting with attendees and grilling hot dogs. There were numerous activities going on throughout the morning, including a photo booth, a dunk tank, air brush tattoos, balloons by Twist and Smile Balloons, and lastly, a live broadcast radio station Indiana 105 FM and on-air personality Mike Summers.

The Dunk Tank was one of the main attractions. However, residents had the opportunity to take turns dunking both NITCO employees as well as Hebron Fire Chief Chad Franzman! Not only was this attraction a huge hit amongst the young ones, but also the adults! Who can complain getting dunked on a hot summer day?

Thomas K., an 11-year-old Hebron resident, said, “The dunk tank and the Designer Dessert cupcakes are my two favorite parts about today. I think it is very nice of NITCO to throw a party for the citizens in the community! I am very thankful.”

I had the opportunity to talk to several kids at the event, and they all shared one thing in common: they were all so happy to be there celebrating with their families. NITCO recognizes the importance of community building activities, and I think it’s safe to say that they knocked it out of the park with this year’s Customer Appreciation event.
