NIPSCO to upgrade and expand electrical system in Winfield

NIPSCO to upgrade and expand electrical system in Winfield

Starting the week of Feb. 12, NIPSCO began work in the town of Winfield, IN, to  upgrade and expand its existing electrical system by installing approximately 165 utility poles, 10 miles of  electrical wire and a new electrical substation. This work is part of the company’s overall infrastructure  modernization plan to upgrade and enhance its existing system to provide communities with a  continued, safe and reliable source of energy for the future. As a result of this work, customers will  experience less electrical service interruptions, less future maintenance work on the system and an  opportunity for economic expansion in the area.

Safety is a top priority at NIPSCO, and for crews to perform this work safely, lane and road closures are  expected. Most construction work will take place on East 117th Avenue and Randolph Street with  additional installations along 109th (east of Randolph), Decatur Street, State Street and Benton Street.  Please drive with caution around any construction, follow the directions of onsite crew members and  posted traffic signs, along with following appropriate posted detour route instructions.

This project is expected to last through the end of this year.

NIPSCO thanks the community for their patience while construction is underway and will continue to  work with local Winfield officials to minimize residential impact throughout the duration of the project.
