The Duneland School Corporation recently completed a new traffic lane and bus turn around at Liberty Elementary and have incorporated a new traffic pattern this week. The new traffic lane at Liberty Elementary allows for parents to drop off their children on the south side of the building at Entrance 4 while bus drop off is being conducted on the west side of the building at Door 8.
“Everything is going smoothly and it is a much safer situation for our students, parents and bus drivers,” said Mike Kellems, Duneland Schools safety manager.
In addition, the school has also incorporated a special student Sunshine Welcoming Crew on rainy days. These Liberty’s leaders were ready on Wednesday morning to greet those students being dropped off with an umbrella. “It is a way for us to incorporate and practice our ‘Leader In Me’ skills at the school,” said Holly Koedyker, teacher and Leader in Me co-facilitator. “It was really successful. I’ve never seen so many smiles from the student leaders, students and parents. I even got a few thumbs up,” she added.
