fuller-center-housing-garyOn Thursday, April 2 at 11:00am, the Fuller Center for Housing of Gary (FCH/Gary), in collaboration with the City of Gary will officially open the doors during a Ribbon Cutting announcement at 2331 and 2449 Jackson Street in Gary. These are the sites of a newly constructed and renovated home built during the City's summer "Jackson Street of Dreams" event. Work continued on the homes throughout the summer and fall until completion, and now families have been approved to take occupancy.

The Fuller Center for Housing of Gary is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates as an affiliate or Covenant Partner with the national organization of The Fuller Center for Housing, headquartered in Americus, Georgia. Following the organization's mission, FCH/Gary seeks to eradicate poverty housing by promoting partnerships with individuals and community groups to build and rehabilitate homes for people in need. The Jackson Street location is the first of many to be identified for this revitalization project.

Corporate sponsors, supporters and volunteers include NIPSCO, the Indiana Department of Correction, Centier Bank the Majestic Star Casino, the Radisson Hotel, and the Gary Railcats. The homes are offered to qualified buyers to purchase with no interest loans, managed by The Fuller Center for Housing of Gary. Volunteers from local organizations and from across the country assisted in completing the construction along with the consistent efforts of inmanes from the IDOC.
