Franciscan Health staff, members of the St. John Chamber of Commerce and local officials welcomed the newest Franciscan ExpressCare and WorkingWell location during a blessing and open house on Wednesday, May 8.
The new location at 8345 Wicker Ave., across the street from Lake Central High School, replaces the former St. John ExpressCare location on 97th Lane, which closed on April 12. The new location will be open to the public in June.
Chris DiGiusto, Franciscan Alliance vice president of ambulatory services, told guests gathered at the new facility, “I’m really excited for what we’re going to do for the community. This isn’t our first foray into St. John, but this location is really going to be amazing for us.”
“We just keep growing,” said Patrick Maloney, president/CEO of Franciscan Health Hammond, Munster and Dyer, mentioning the progress he’s seen during a recent visit to the ExpressCare location in Hobart, which opened late last year. Other Northwest Indiana Franciscan ExpressCare locations include Crown Point, Michigan City, Munster, Portage and Valparaiso.
Fr. Tony Janik, director of spiritual care for Franciscan Health Crown Point, presided over the blessing, asking for God’s blessing on the new facility “and on all who will work here in services of occupational health and safety and the care of the sick.”
