The Diggz in Hobart will be hosting the Midwest Youth Championships, a 10U through 14U volleyball tournament, April 26 and April 27.
According to Mike Mazur, one of the owners and club director of The Diggz, more than 100 teams will be coming from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Over the course of the two-day tournament, there will be more than 1,000 volleyball players participating in the event and more than 3,000 spectators cheering on the teams.
The Diggz will also be hosting the Midwest Championships Pre-National on May 17 and May 18. Volleyball players will compete in this tournament prior to heading to either the USA Volleyball Junior National Championship tournament in Minneapolis, Minnesota, or the AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, Florida.
Spectators are invited to watch the Midwest Youth Championships. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children 12 years of age and younger.
The Diggz, located at 4590 W. 61st Avenue, offers six volleyball courts, two indoor sand volleyball courts and 42,000 square feet of gym space. In addition to volleyball, space is also provided for indoor soccer, women’s roller derby, basketball, indoor baseball and softball. Court rentals are available.
Private and group lessons are offered at The Diggz as well as youth programs for children as young 4 years old. The Diggz also offers speed and agility as well as strength and conditioning training for athletes focusing on high performance and injury prevention.
The Diggz of Northwest Indiana is home to Epic United Volleyball. Epic United Volleyball is the result of a merger between Altitude Volleyball and Diamond Elite Volleyball Academy.
