The Merrillville High School Air Force JROTC Drill Team placed first overall in their Nov. 16 drill meet in Anchor Bay, Mich.

The team brought home eight trophies: four first-place trophies: Advanced Armed, Unarmed Exhibition, First Year Armed, and First-Year Unarmed; two second-place trophies: Armed Exhibition and Advanced Unarmed; and two third-place trophies: First-Year Color Guard and Inspection.

Cadet Moran and Cadet Stroh also received Individual drill awards.

“The students worked really hard over the past two and a half months to prepare for this competition,” said Senior Master Sgt. Daniel J. Wrasman, MHS Air Force JROTC instructor. “My senior cadets were outstanding leaders, helping all the teams to be successful.

“I’m especially proud of our first-year cadets who placed in every category,” he continued.
