The Merrillville Community School Corporation has a new chief financial officer.
Meghan Damron was approved by the Board of School Trustees to replace Hilda Damianick, who retired June 30 after more than 14 years of service.
Damron comes from Griffith Public Schools, where she served as the director of business services and human resources, as well as the corporation treasurer.
“I am very thankful for my experiences with Griffith as it has led me to this opportunity,” said Damron. “I am looking forward to being a part of the Merrillville Pirate Family.”
As she did at Griffith, Damron will oversee the financial operations of the Merrillville Community School Corporation, including capital plans, budgets, annual financial plans and more.
Her responsibilities include purchasing and bidding, employee benefits, board relations, facility usage, grants, workers compensation, legislative issues, and more.
She will supervise the operations of the Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Purchasing, Transportation, Food Services and Building and Grounds Departments.
Damron is certified as a chief business officer and also in human resources by the Indiana Association of School Business Officials. She has a Master of Business Administration from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in business management from Southwest Missouri State University
