Merrillville Rotary Club holiday donation helps patients in need

The Merrillville Rotary Club continued its Thanksgiving tradition of donating to those in need by delivering $1,500 in Strack & Van Til gift cards to Franciscan Health St. Clare Health Clinic in Crown Point. The clinic will use the gift cards to supplement donations to its food pantry and feed the families of patients during the holidays.

Merrillville Rotary Club President Mary Wright said this is the seventh year the organization has raised funds for clinic patients, and the donation comes strictly from internal fundraisers by club members. “Rotary’s mantra is service above self, so we’re really happy we can help,” she said.

“It is extremely important to remember those less fortunate throughout the year and especially during the holidays,” said Franciscan Health Foundation Executive Director Rick Peltier. “I am appreciative of the Merrillville Rotary Club’s loyal and impactful support of our Franciscan Mission. I am thankful of their generosity this holiday season, once again. They make a difference in our community; they are game-changers.”
