Meals on Wheels Volunteer Ambassador of the Month: Keith Bogner

Meals on Wheels Volunteer Ambassador of the Month: Keith Bogner

The Volunteer Ambassador of the month is someone who joined Meals on Wheels nearly two years ago. He came to us after retirement from Nipsco and although he had tried other volunteer opportunities, he felt a need to make a difference in his own community. Keith Bogner has been a committed delivery driver for us in the Hammond area since January 2018. He has a set route that he has become familiar with and will occasionally assists us when we are short of drivers on other routes. He even picked up a few Whiting routes after he had mentioned he knew the Whiting area and could help if we needed someone on short notice.

Keith has an outgoing personality and offered to help us with our Round Up campaign at Stracks last year in Highland. Keith was responsible for collecting the most cash contributions of any volunteer who worked the tables for us last year. This year he is returned to the same location and reminded cashiers to offer the opportunity to round up. He also helped with the sale of hot dogs! The store manager offered the hot dog sale as an additional incentive to boost our round up donations.

Thanks to Keith and his willingness to help others, we have our meals delivered in Hammond regularly and donations to help us keep the cost of our meals down. We are grateful for his service to Meals on Wheels.
