Meals on Wheels Has Volunteer Opportunities; October 2014 Trainings Set

Meals-on-WheelsInterested candidates are invited to attend our Volunteer Orientation and Training Session at the Meals on Wheels Community Room, 8446 Virginia Street in Merrillville. A one-hour session will be held on Tuesday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m., and Thursday, October 23, at 1:00 p.m. The sessions are scheduled for one hour and applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the services we provide.

Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,200 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, volunteers are needed for all routes throughout Lake County. “However, at the moment, we are particularly in need in the St. John and Schererville communities,” she said.

To register for training, or for more information on individual or corporate volunteering opportunities, contact Vith at (219)-756-3663, or email joan@mownwi.org
