Marquette Catholic is proud to announce that Abby Skube has been named Head Coach for the 2013-14 season.
Skube brings a wealth of playing experience to Marquette Catholic. Abby grew up playing basketball and volleyball for Chesterton High School. A versatile player, she was named Second Team All-Area as a junior by the NWI Times. She averaged 11.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a junior, was a three-time all-conference and all-area selection and a three-time team captain.
Skube was named team's defensive most valuable player after her sophomore and junior seasons. As a freshmen she helped the Trojans to its first sectional title in 19 years her freshman year. Skube was also a two-year letter winner in volleyball as well, earning team's defensive MVP award and setting single-match and single-season records for block touches.
She went on to be a three year starter at Loyola University in Chicago where she appeared in 106 games. A resourceful player who could score in the paint or step out and shoot with range, her best game came February 18, 2012 when she poured in career best 26 points (10-13 FGs, 4-5 3FGs) and added nine boards at Valparaiso.
“Coach Skube is an excellent addition to our coaching staff’, Director of Athletics, Anthony Mytas states. “Her playing career has given her the knowledge to be an extremely successful head coach. I am confident that she will develop the girls’ basketball team into a highly competitive squad moving forward. We are excited to have her join our staff.”
