MacRobotics, Walking Away Winners

After over 100hrs of practice, 60 qualification tournament matches, 6 tournaments and working on their robot designs since the first of August MacRobotics teams 10277A, 10277C and 10277D walked away some big winners at the Indiana State Elementary VEX IQ Championships. The Vex IQ CrossOver Challenge, has been one of the most difficult tasks/game this team has ever had to play, but proved not to be a problem for these MacRobotics teams.

After over four hours of competition, it was team 10277C (Dylan Bulla, Dominic Graegin, and Dakota Newberry) that rocked the competition walking away with the sought-after 1st Place Teamwork Tournament Champions. This team has won a combined 12 trophies throughout the season and proved they deserved to be #1 in the state.

Then, Team 10277D (Ryland Hochstetler, Michael Lamb and Gregory Zellers) dominated their way into the final matches grabbing the 2nd Place Teamwork Challenge trophy. These 4th graders are truly a force to be reckoned with within the field of robotics and competition.

Rounding out this event it was Team 10277A (Lilly Caddick, Alina Conley, Breanna Johnson and Lila Pack) who snagged the judge’s Amaze Award. This all-girl team “amazed” the judges with their outstanding teamwork, robust design, and all-around respect for robotics and engineering.

With this outstanding performance from these three teams, EACH has earned an invitation to the VEX IQ World Championships at the Kentucky Convention Center in Louisville, KY. This three day event will have 275 teams from around World! This opportunity is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these 4th and 5th graders happens at the end of April. This opportunity is a first ever for MacRobotics.

The MacRoboitcs team started four seasons ago, this team has grown leaps and bounds since its beginnings. Absolutely, none of this would be possible without the monetary support of Crown Point Community Foundation and other local businesses. We would also like to thank the MacArthur Elementary staff and parents for your continuous support.
