Lubeznik Center for the Arts welcomes new exhibition from local teachers

Inspired/Inspire will be on display from March 19-April 30 2021.

Lubeznik Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce a new exhibit titled Inspired / Inspire: A group show of artworks from Michigan City Area Schools’ art educators.

Highlighting eleven visual arts educators from Michigan City’s elementary, middle and high schools, Inspired / Inspire celebrates these extraordinary teachers, who, despite a most challenging academic year, continue to inspire and be inspired every day. Not only do they educate their students through a world of possibilities, but they also maintain individual creative studio practices.

“Through these trying times, we have tapped our creative abilities to find a means to express and help heal ourselves with the hope that it will also help heal others,” says participating artist and educator Samantha Rich.

Works on display include painting, photography, drawing and sculpture. Artists included in this exhibit are Holly Beadles, Diane Grams, Samantha Rich, Erin Ledyard, Karen Maudlin, Julie Pitman, Sarah Quartuccio, Matthew Raney, Kelly Tokoly-Rothermel, Susanne Vigen and Cheri Whitler.

“We’re thrilled to display this exhibit to honor our district’s art teachers, and we’re grateful for their resilience and creativity during these difficult times. Their inspiration is indeed a catalyst for what they offer their students each and every day, and this exhibit exemplifies their important work,” says Hannah Hammond-Hagman, LCA’s Education Director.

Inspired / Inspire will be on view March 19 through April 30 in the NIPSCO Education Studio Gallery at Lubeznik Center for the Arts.
