Lubeznik Center for the Arts Announces Their 2021 Spring Art Classes and Summer Camps

Both online and in-person (with limited seating) classes will be offered.

Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) announces the new spring schedule of art classes and 2021 Youth Summer Camps. The spring session includes both online and in-person classes for all ages and includes something of interest for every artist at every level.

“We continue to abide by strict safety measures for our returning students as we enter the spring months,” says Hannah Hammond-Hagman, LCA’s Education Director. “We will continue to limit in-person class size to allow for social distancing, and masks are required for all students, instructors and visitors while in the building.”

LCA’s spring session will begin Monday, March 22nd, and most classes run for six weeks. Adult offerings include in-person instruction in Abstract Painting and Mixed Media Exploration with popular instructors Jay Zerbe and Michelle Wiser. Students will be challenged by various techniques and skill-building exercises while developing their self-expression and discovery methods.

Young artists can explore online classes, including The Art of Comic Book Storytelling and Art Journaling, as well as in-person painting and drawing classes. Whether online or in-person, tuitions for youth classes always include all materials, and families who register for online classes will need to pick up a supply kit from LCA prior to the start of the session.

Registration is also open for LCA’s very popular Youth Summer Camps for kids ages 8 to 13. Themes for our in-person 2021 camps are “Things that Fly,” “Ocean Deep” and “Myths, Tales and Lore.” Beginning mid-July, each camp meets from 9 am to 1 pm for five days, and kids will build, discover and create with all kinds of materials and techniques related to each week’s theme. Each week ends with a Family Celebration to showcase to family and friends the amazing works they created. Campers will have the chance to meet new friends and express themselves in a safe, relaxed atmosphere with a small instructor-to-camper ratio.

LCA believes the arts are for everyone. Scholarships are available for students of all ages to attend a class or camp at LCA, thanks to The Dolly Fund and Unity Foundation of LaPorte County. For more information about scholarships, please contact LCA’s Education Director at hhammond@lubeznikcenter.org or(219) 874-4900.

“We can’t wait to have students back with us at LCA as we look forward to warmer days ahead,” says Hammond-Hagman. To register for a spring class or summer camp program, visit www.lubeznickcenter.org/learning.
