Local Resident Volunteers for Highland Education Foundation

Local-Resident-Volunteers-for-Highland-Education-FoundationGiving back to the community is a passion for local resident Edward Stone. Stone is a husband and father, full time employee and a volunteer at the Highland Education Foundation.

Stone works full time at Fannie Mae managing equity investments. Both of his daughters are currently students within the School Town of Highland district. When he first heard about the Highland Education Foundation, he thought it would be a great idea to join because he wanted to give back to the community.

“I always try to live a balanced life. I want to pursue my career, but also be there for my kids and family. I enjoy giving back to the community,” Stone stated.

Stone dedicates his free time to being the treasurer of the Highland Education Foundation. He was appointed the position in October of 2016. The Highland Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to funding innovative educational grants to teachers in the School Town of Highland in order to provide opportunities that enhance student learning and achievement.

Stone explains that playing a role in helping to create ideas that could be effective for the teachers and students is one of his favorite aspects about working with the foundation.

The foundation is working to get the community and parents to understand their identity, goals and accomplishments. Stone believes this is one of the hardest parts they have faced so far.

“I think the foundation will have a long-lasting impact and I will be happy to be a part of it,” Stone explained.
