Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) is a philanthropic international organization where women celebrate the advancement of women, educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship, and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. Established in 2009, the Star Scholarship is awarded internationally to exceptional high school senior women to attend an accredited post-secondary education institution.
Senior Taryn Trusty of Chesterton High School applied for this scholarship through the local P.E.O. Chapter ED. Although Trusty did not receive the highly competitive scholarship, the local chapter chose to present her with a thank you check for completing the lengthy application process.
