Local Hot Rod Owners Anticipate Annual Crown Point Car Cruise

crown-point-car-cruise-2Spring is finally in the air. The first sights of green leaves budding from the trees, the smell of flowers finally in bloom, and the sound of hot rods and muscle cars making their way out onto the street after a long winter.

Greg Falkowski’s red 1963 Ford Galaxie will be one of many four-wheeled stars expected to roll around the Crown Point Square next month at the first car cruise of the season.

“I’ve been participating in the Crown Point Car Cruise for the last two years,” Falkowski said. “What makes this car cruise different from others in the area is that you get to be right in the middle of the action.”

Over the years, the downtown square has been transformed back to the cool era of hot rods and muscle cars while oldies music fills the air from the courthouse lawn. Food and craft vendors lined the street and all of the shops around the square remained open. All classic car owners and automotive enthusiasts are welcome.

“My dad was always restoring old cars, so that’s what sparked my interest in it,” Falkowski said. “I worked on motorcycles at first, but when my wife and I had kids we decided a classic car would be a better fit for the family.”

The cruise is set to take place every Thursday night from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will start on May 14 and go through September 24. The first cruise is set to take place at the downtown square. Come out with your family and friends to enjoy a fun filled evening.
