Local Carpenters Union Lends a Helping Hand to Hobart Pop Warner Football

hobart-football-union-1As part of ongoing efforts to give back to the community, local carpenters from the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC), lent their talents to the Hobart Pop Warner Little Scholars to renovate the existing bleachers and press box at Aaron Cooper Field located in Hillman Park, Hobart. The bleachers in particular were in dire need of repair to ensure the safety of spectators.

When asked about the project, Tom Dorsey, Senior Supervisor of the union (IKORCC) said, “It is an honor for us to be able to donate our time and talents to Pop Warner. For each of us, family is our number one priority. We know that when we give back to the community, we are helping to create a great place to raise our families. Working with Pop Warner was an added bonus since many of our children play on these fields and benefit from the facilities we worked on.”

hobart-football-union-2Ryan Pendleton, President of Hobart Pop Warner added, “To grasp the amount of work the carpenters of the local union have donated to Hobart Pop Warner, 160+ man hours in two days, is overwhelming. We as parent volunteers could not have accomplished that quality of work in such a time frame. The orchestration of the bleachers and press box repairs lead by Mr. Dorsey and Mr. Lewis is greatly appreciated. As a non profit youth sports organization, it is a privilege to approach the Regional Council of Carpenters (labor) and Rebuilding Together Hobart Lake Station (necessary materials) for the opportunity of improvements to be made at the facility our children play and grow on.”

The Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters represents more than 32,000 professional tradespeople in 43 locals in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and parts of West Virginia and Tennessee. A proud affiliate of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, which has a century-plus tradition of representing the best of the building trades, the council works in partnership with more than 30,000 contractors, helping them find the best possible talent for their projects. The hallmark of the regional council is three-fold: training, professionalism and partnerships for economic development.
