Local Bank Raises Funds for Animal Shelter

HSCA FirstMerchantsDonationIn May, more than 100 employees at First Merchants Bank donated a total of $675 to the animals of Humane Society Calumet Area during Jeans Day.

Jeans Days are special events where employees can make a voluntary contribution, Vice President Marketing Manager at First Merchants Corporation Dana Talaga explained. For their contribution, employees can wear jeans to work for the day. More than 100 employees supported the Humane Society Calumet Area Jeans Day.

“We are always looking for ways to support organizations in our local community,” Talaga said.

Funds raised provide food, shelter, and medical care for the 152 cats, 179 dogs and two rabbits currently housed at the shelter.
