Legacy Foundation launches 2020 Census Initiative in Lake County

The Census is a Constitutionally mandated count of the total population. Every ten years, the U.S. Census Bureau counts the population in all 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. A complete and accurate count is critical for you and your family because Census data is used to determine how much federal funding is needed to sustain your community, our congressional representation, and more. Under current funding in Indiana, we would lose $1,600 of federal funds per person, every year for the next ten years. For the future of our county, and your family, everyone needs to be counted during the 2020 Census.

Expand your knowledge of the 2020 Census for your family. Learn when you will be able to respond to the Census, how Census data impacts your daily life, and local job opportunities through the Census Bureau.

Legacy is offering grants up to $2,500 to support coordinated campaigns to increase Census participation in 2020 among populations and communities in Lake County who are historically undercounted. Legacy Foundation invites proposals from 501(c)3 organizations, municipalities, education institutions, and faith-based organizations.
