Legacy Foundation awards 23 organizations as 2024 fall grant recipients

Legacy Foundation awards 23 organizations as 2024 fall grant recipients

Legacy Foundation has announced its fall grant recipients for 2024.

Kelly Anoe, president and CEO of Legacy Foundation, feels that these grants are all about repaying those who are making a positive difference.

“These grants are all about the focus of improving and strengthening Lake County,” Anoe said. “There is a point of emphasis on improving the quality of life for residents of Lake County and for our communities with these grants. We look at what can be most impactful and how we can use our funding to leverage additional resources so we can address what causes those issues.”

Maranda Engquist, grants and partnership director for Legacy Foundation, looks forward to this moment for the awarded organizations every year. She believes each business values this recognition in its own special way.

“Our grants consist of a wide variety of projects that are programmatic and build up capacity for organizations,” Engquist said. “Each of the awards is unique and has a special meaning for each individual organization. These grants are allowing these businesses to better serve their community and clients while fulfilling their mission.”

With 23 organizations being awarded with a grant this fall, Legacy Foundation is appreciative of each individual or organization that has put in applications of requests for funding.

“We have so many amazing nonprofit organizations that we work with in Lake County,” Anoe said. “It’s a privilege to connect with them and help each organization achieve its mission. It’s a very difficult process because we receive a lot of requests for funding. We have to look at real community needs and decide which organizations to fund for these grants.”

According to Anoe, the goal of Legacy Foundation is to fund more projects and organizations in Lake County. The Lilly Endowment is an opportunity that has assisted the Legacy Foundation tremendously in this process. Through the Lilly Endowment, any donation will be matched 2-to-1 for both restricted and unrestricted funds.

“Our unrestricted funds are what we use to make local grants and to award local grants to nonprofits,” Anoe said. “This will help us support our community in Lake County and other local organizations. Raising funds for our unrestricted funds is not only critical to our mission at Legacy Foundation, but also to be able to give out grants to organizations and meet the ever changing needs of our communities.”

Connecting with so many organizations and acknowledging them for their support is one of the most energetic days of the year for the Legacy Foundation. Its team is excited to continue building these relationships moving forward in 2025.

“I think there’s a lot of momentum happening around different collaborations and community development projects in Lake County,” Engquist said. “One of the best things about being a part of the Legacy Foundation is getting to work with people who are passionate and committed to making changes in the community.”
