Latitude Commercial welcomes Chandler Kimmel to brokerage team

This month, Latitude Commercial celebrated the addition of a new member to their growing team – Chandler Kimmel, associate broker. Specializing in office and medical, Kimmel is excited to grow his passion for realty into a career as a commercial developer at the full-service commercial real estate brokerage.

Kimmel’s initial interest in real estate sparked because of his dad, who works in development. Growing up, he saw a lot about how the field works and carried that with him into college. He attended Liberty University and while studying finance, joined the school’s Real Estate Club where he became Vice President. That is when he first learned about Latitude, as he earned the opportunity to join their team as an intern in 2018.  He learned a lot, and used that experience as he spent a couple of years with his brother flipping houses before he heard that Latitude was searching for a new broker.

“Real estate has always piqued my interest so it seemed like a great opportunity,” he said. “I came in, did a couple of interviews, and here I am.”

One thing that immediately stood out to Kimmel about Latitude is their approach to teambuilding.

“Latitude is a great group, they’re really outgoing and actually get to know you,” he said. “It’s such a great environment to work and learn in because they’re always helping each other out in different ways. They know the value of teamwork.”

Their helpfulness is proving especially useful as Kimmel solidifies his real estate foundations. Latitude signs him up for courses, takes him out shadowing, and are always eager to mentor.

“They’ve been great about it,” Kimmel said. “They’re always open to answering questions. It could be an easy question with an easy answer, or a hard question with a hard answer, but they’ll take the time to go over it with me and they’ll never look down on you for asking something simple.”

His family background and practical experience flipping houses are helping him adapt quickly to commercial real estate and its differences in things such as leasing.

“There are some similarities that have helped in their own ways, but once you get into leasing it’s a whole new ballpark,” he said. “It becomes a lot more complex compared to residential, it’s definitely something I’ve been getting used to.”

Another particular challenge in commercial development is the sheer diversity of clients and properties: industrial, retail, medical, office, and more. It is a challenge that is quickly proving to be one of Kimmel’s favorite aspects of the job.

“It’s interesting to get to know all the different people involved in commercial real estate in the area,” he said. “I’ve lived here my whole life, so it’s like I’m learning something new about my community.”

The first years of a broker’s career are often the hardest, but Kimmel is eager to tackle the challenge.

“Honestly, I’m just looking forward to getting out there and getting as many deals done as possible,” he said. “I’m ready to put myself out there and do the best that I can. I think one thing I’m ready for is to bring long-term clients to Latitude, who are working with us on more than one property and really building a relationship.”
