Larry Mitchell is Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Michigan City’s March Ambassador of the Month.
The award has been presented by the hospital’s Social and Recognition Committee since 1988 and recognizes employees who exhibit the mission and values of Franciscan Alliance, which include compassion for those in need, respect for life and the dignity of mankind, wellness and prevention of illness, restoration to health and acceptance of death as the final step toward wholeness. Recipients also have demonstrated courtesy, the proper attitude and enthusiasm for their work.
Mitchell, who resides in the Michigan City area with his wife (they have five children), and has been with the hospital for a year, was nominated for the award by a fellow employee, who said he “goes above and beyond his call of duty and does so in a joyful and helpful manner.” His supervisor applauded Mitchell’s nomination, adding “he provides great customer service to all of his clients and colleagues in a professional manner.”
Mitchell, who retired from the LaPorte Police Department after 30 years of service and works part time for the Long Beach Police Department, said he was “surprised and happy to see that security officers are appreciated.” He added, “Remember that our security officers are here to protect you, our staff, our patients and our visitors.”
When he’s not working, Mitchell enjoys camping and traveling.
In recognition of the honor, Mitchell, as are all Ambassador recipients, was honored with a special billboard display for the month, a privileged parking spot, an Ambassador badge holder, a photo on the Ambassador of the Month wall that displays the previous 12 months’ winners, and $150.
