Lake County Public Library Offers Free Music Downloads with Library Card

Lake-County-Public-LibraryThe Lake County Public Library offers a free service that enables resident cardholders to use their library card to download five songs a week absolutely free and to any device. This service, called Freegal, derives from "free" and "legal" and has over 7 million songs from 28,000 labels available from the Sony Music Entertainment catalog. With tens-of-thousands of popular artists in hundreds of musical genres there is sure to be something for everyone. From Justin Timberlake to Bob Dylan, to Elvis Presley, music lovers can search for their favorite artists to download music and keep the songs at no cost.

Each Monday morning the counter will reset and patrons will be able to download five more songs and transfer the songs to various devices and/or burn to a CD, which means 260 free songs a year. There is no waiting list for popular titles, no late fees, and no date due to worry about.

Patrons can access the site from our website at www.lcplin.org and click on the music tab on the left of the page to get started.
