Lake County Forever Making Strides In Game-Changing Campaign

Legacy Foundation Raising Millions For Neighbors

Legacy Foundation officials Wednesday announced that the Lake County Forever campaign has moved beyond the 80 percent point of its $1.9 million goal. The campaign is driven by a promise from Lilly Endowment Inc., which will donate $2 for every $1 raised through Lake County Forever, tripling every donation.

By the end of June 2025, the campaign, with the 2-to-1 match, hopes to raise $5.8 million for Region nonprofits that support residents throughout Lake County.

“The Lake County Forever campaign has really seen some great momentum, but now is the time to get the word out about how important this opportunity is for our neighbors in Lake County,” said Legacy Foundation President and CEO Kelly Anoe. “No donation is too small, especially since every dollar will be tripled, thanks to Lilly Endowment, and it’s very easy to donate.”

The nearly $6 million will go towards unrestricted funds, which go directly to nonprofits that address community needs throughout Lake County.

So far, the donations have ranged from donations of $25, each of which became $75 because of the grant, to donations of hundreds of thousands of dollars, all of which also have been tripled, said Erica Fizer Katsepas, Vice-President of Philanthropy for Legacy Foundation.

“We’ve begun thinking of this opportunity as ‘Legacy Math,’ because every $1 that’s donated literally becomes $3 because of the 2-to-1 match by Lilly Endowment,” Fizer Katsepas said.
