Coming on strong during the race was senior Anthony Didion of La Porte. Didion was fresh off a victory at New Prairie on Saturday and didn’t hold back for the triangular meet against Valparaiso and Lake Central.
Didion had the home field advantage running on the Kesling course. He placed 1st with a time of 16:16.
Didion said, “[La Porte taking the one and two spots] felt really good. This is a flat course and it was a good day for running. We kept our places and we kept our plan and we went from there.”
Sam Miller of La Porte held the #2 spot with a time of 16:24.
First in for Valpo was Kevin Hickey placing 3rd. He followed Miller closely with a time of 16:26.
Hickey said, “This was my first time out on this course and it felt like a good fit. I felt relaxed and it turned out well.”
Valpo Coach Aaron Crague was in agreement when he told Hickey, “Congrats on a pretty awesome run!”
First in for Lake Central and placing 5th with a time of 16:40 was sophomore Zach Hupp.
Hupp said, “This was an interesting course. We run the course two times over so you can track yourself and see how you are doing during the race and my distance felt right on today.”
Valparaiso boys gained the team victory over La Porte and Lake Central with their pack running strategy paying off.

Senior Elena Lancioni of La Porte gained the double victory for La Porte with her first place win. She had a time of 18:51.
Lancioni said, “I feel pretty good [about the win] and I am happy for my team. We did a great job!”
Kailee Schoof also of La Porte placed 2nd with a time of 19:00.
Schoof cheered, “We are undefeated!”
Alison Mundell of Valparaiso placed 3rd with a time of 19:27. She liked running on the Kesling course.
Mundell said, “I really liked running this course and I am glad we will be here for the DAC.”
