Journeyman Distillery’s Chef’s Dinner Series: Fine dining in finer company

Looking to refine your palate? Journeyman Distillery’s Chef’s Dinner Series is bringing an expertly catered dining experience to the American Factory that’s sure to get taste buds singing. Through careful planning, every aspect of the Chef’s Dinner Series has been planned to provide attendees with maximum satisfaction.

The series will kick off on Friday, July 26 with the Char No. 3 experience at the American Factory in Valparaiso. This smoky four-course experience on the American Factory rooftop offers a catered opportunity to relax outdoors with dishes prepared by Executive Chef Amanda Salas paired expertly with beverages from Lead Bartender Daniel Lagestee.

The evening will begin with a selection of appetizers, including smoked trout cigars with tobiko caviar and sesame seed ash and char-grilled New York strip crostinis. This introductory sampling will help attendees prepare their taste buds for an evening of charred delight.

Appetizers will be followed by a first course of cold smoked duck carpaccio. Featuring charred frisée, orange segments, toasted hazelnuts, and a champagne vinaigrette, the carpaccio combines Italian cuisine with French taste for a flavor all its own.

The second course of the night – Oysters Rockefeller – takes the smoky flavoring up to another level. Smoked creamed spinach, toasted Parmesan crumbles, and charred lemon top these oyster half-shells that bring a bit of New Orleans to Indiana. Coupled with a cocktail of barrel-aged gin, Lillet Blanc, bitters, and charred cipollini onions, the oysters will go down just as smoothly as the drink.

Smoked beef rib in a rich cherry demi-glace serves as the night’s main course. Paired with grilled asparagus and a smoked potato au gratin with Gouda cheese, a night of charred flavors culminates with every bite of this delicious final meal. Lagestee has paired the beef rib with a Blackened Manhattan made with Journeyman’s very own Last Feather Rye.

Of course, no night by the fire is complete without s’mores. To conclude the evening, Salas is treating guests to s’mores crème brulée of toasted marshmallow, chocolate ganache, and graham custard.

All together, Journeyman’s Chef’s Dinner Char No. 3 brings guests three entire hours of catered, planned meals that offer the ultimate experience of taste and relaxation. Whether you’re in the mood for a night under the stars, whiskey and cigars, or just some great company, Char No. 3 is the place to be.

Interested parties should act quickly, as only 100 tickets are available for this introduction to the Chef’s Dinner Series. Once they’re gone, diners will need to wait for the next night in the series for a chance to get in. Tickets can be purchased online from Journeyman’s website.
