CROWN POINT, IN – Northwest Indiana Community Action (NWICA), the state’s largest combined area agency on aging and community action agency, announced that its Board of Directors has selected Mrs. Jennifer Trowbridge as the President and Chief Executive Officer. She assumed leadership of the agency on October 11, 2021. Gary Olund, President/CEO for the past eighteen years is retiring. One of Jennifer Trowbridge’s first objectives will be to collaborate with the Board of Directors to refine and implement priorities to ensure alignment with NWICA’s mission, vision and values. Trowbridge is an enthusiastic servant-leader who has dedicated the last 15-years of her career leading Medicaid funded programs for those with developmental disabilities, medical needs, and most recently, family caregivers. “Joining NWICA to help reduce poverty and revitalize low-income communities makes a critical difference on persons served and the community at large),” said Trowbridge. “I’m honored to be selected as the President/CEO of this remarkable organization. As I learn more about NWICA, I am impressed with the financial stewardship and the 150+ employees that serve nearly 15,000 people in our communities each year. I am looking forward to building on this strong foundation.”
“Mrs. Trowbridge brings an array of experience leading quality organizations with high-standards. She has successfully led teams through various accreditations, including the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA),” said Maria Becerra, NWICA’s Board Chair. NWICA received the Case Management for Long-Term Services and Supports Accreditation, which validates that effectiveness of NWICA's programs on participants. She has also been invited by the Indiana’s Division of Aging to participate in various work groups and committees because of her experience and innovative thinking. Jennifer, an Indiana native, enjoys life with her husband, Bill, and their 4 teenage/young adult sons. For Jennifer, her values are built on relationships, integrity, and grit.
