IUN Women Get Big Win; Men Suffer Heartbreaking Loss

iunlogoThe Indiana University Northwest women's basketball team picked up a 60-56 win over Indiana University South Bend in a battle of teams receiving votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) poll on Monday at the Savannah Center in Gary.

Megan Holland had game-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the RedHawks, while Rebecca Theriault was 4-for-7 from beyond the three-point arc to contribute 15 of her own.

Brooke Gardener added three steals for IU Northwest, who improved to 9-5 overall on the season.

The RedHawks' men's basketball team was unable to make it two-for-two for IUN, as they suffered a heartbreaking 85-84 loss at the hands of Holy Cross College (Ind.) and Dane Okuda, who hit a last-second 3-point shot for the win.

IUN raced out to a 43-32 lead at halftime, but could not overcome a 23-point effort by Parker Dominguez of Holy Cross (11-5).

Brandon Grubl had 23 points to lead IUN, while Quentin Palmer and Brandon Reyes each added 17.

With the loss, the RedHawks fall to 3-10 on the season.
