IU Northwest Names Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

IUN AlexisMontevirgenIndiana University Northwest announced on Tuesday the appointment of Alexis Montevirgen as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Montevirgen comes from the College of Alameda in Alameda, Calif., where he was Vice President of Student Services.

Montevirgen brings with him nearly 15 years of higher education experience in student services and enrollment management. He is an experienced leader with a strong commitment to student success, educational access and educational equity. As part of his leadership experience in Student Affairs, Montevirgen has developed a strong background in strategic planning, enrollment management, marketing, outreach, recruitment, retention and student academic success.

He will serve as the chief student affairs and enrollment management officer for the campus. In his role, Montevirgen will be responsible for envisioning, planning, managing, and delivering student services and providing leadership and initiative in strategic planning for student recruitment and retention, financial aid policies, and co-curricular programs.

Lowe said. “He has an extensive background in higher education student services and enrollment management. His experience will be critical as we focus our attention on student recruitment, retention and providing a compelling and enriching campus experience that underwrites student academic success.”

Previously, Montevirgen served as Dean of Enrollment Services/Student Services at the College of Alameda; as the Director of Student Life at Evergreen Valley College; and as Associate Director of Multicultural Programs at California State University San Marcos.

Montevirgen earned his Doctor of Education from San Francisco State University, his Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and his Bachelor of Science from the University of California, San Diego.
