ISBA discusses 2015 General Assembly Upcoming Legislation’s Impact on Education at Regional Meetings; Local School Boards Recognized for Achievement

Duneland-School-CorporationSchool board members and administrators from around the state, including representatives from the Duneland School Corporation attended the Indiana School Boards Association regional meeting on Tuesday, October 7 at Teibel's Restaurant in Schererville, Indiana. ISBA is conducting meetings in each of its 10 regions across the state to discuss the effect the 2015 Indiana General Assembly will have on the operation of Indiana's public schools.

The regional meetings are conducted from late September to mid-October to acquaint board members and superintendents with legislation that might affect them. New ISBA Executive Director and lobbyist, Dr. Brian Smith, presented the details of the upcoming legislation affecting Indiana public education, David Emmert, Esq., ISBA General Counsel delivered an update on legal issues. Exemplary, Master and Outstanding School Boards in the ISBA's Certification Awards Program (CAP) were also given recognition. The CAP program recognizes individual board members and school boards for their voluntary participation in ISBA and other school board training activities.

Those attending were school board members Ralph Ayres, Ron Stone and Mike Trout; and school administrators Dr. David Pruis, Monte Moffett and Jim Goetz.
