The exhibit features approximately 80 pieces in a variety of artistic forms and includes iconic locations such as the Indiana Dunes, Hoosier Prairie and Gibson Woods.

The exhibition, a White Ripple Gallery & Co. exhibit and an official exhibit of the University of Notre Dame’s Indigenous World program, celebrates the natural settings near and along the shores of Lake Michigan native to the states of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan that remain undisturbed since the times of the indigenous people of the area.

“In the modern age, we see the world as it is presented to us, sprawling landscapes of stone, steel, and glass heralding man's conquering of the environment. What we miss, if we are not careful, is the memory of a time when man existed in a landscape unchanged by human hands,” explained Jocelyn Prue, exhibit curator and owner of White Ripple Gallery.

“Indigenous landscapes are still all around us, if we know where to look. This show is a celebration of the natural beauty and wonder that can be enjoyed today just as it had been when the first humans traversed this land,” stated Prue.

An opening reception will be held at the Indiana Welcome Center on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. During the reception, visitors can view the pieces of art while meeting with artists. Additionally, reception attendees will enjoy light refreshments.

Exhibit attendees interested in purchasing pieces can call White Ripple Gallery & Co. at 773-885-1919 or 219-803-2690.
