Humane Society Calumet Area Announces Chief Operating Officer

Brian-FitzpatrickHumane Society Calumet Area (HSCA) welcomes Brian Fitzpatrick as the new Chief Operating Officer to lead the overall operational effectiveness of the organization and strengthen the foundation of an already solid team. Fitzpatrick, a resident of St John Ind., joined the organization on Feb 8th.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Brian. He has a track record of extraordinary success in leadership and operations across multiple teams,” said Lisa Carpenter, HSCA’s Chief Development Officer. “Brian has tremendous drive and passion for his work and for his community. He is among the best in process improvement and team building. I look forward to our future growth with Brian joining our team!”

Prior to joining Humane Society as COO, Fitzpatrick was an HSCA Board Member and has held various leadership roles in his 35 year career in retail and more than a decade in executive leadership; most recently serving as the COO for Strack & Van Til, LLC.

Humane Society Calumet Area works to lead the community in the humane treatment of animals. HSCA contributes to major initiatives in Northwest Indiana with the Adoption & Intake Centers and the Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic in Munster, and Paws Resale Shoppe in Highland and Moraine Ridge Wildlife Center in Valparaiso.

Founded by concerned citizen Miss Evelyn Sweitzer in 1941, Humane Society Calumet Area aims to lead the community in the humane treatment of animals by providing vital community services. In 2016, 1,372 homeless animals found homes through HSCA and 77 lost animals were reunited with their families. Additional HSCA services include spay and neuter surgeries for families with financial hardship at Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic, a humane education team that teaches local children about pet safety and compassion, and rehabilitation for wildlife at Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
