Humane Society Calumet Area Announces Chief Development Officer

Lisa-Carpenter-2017Humane Society Calumet Area (HSCA) welcomes Lisa Carpenter as Chief Development Officer to the organization to assist in major fundraising initiatives and strengthen donor relations. Carpenter, a resident of St. John Ind., joined the organization on January 2nd.

Prior to joining HSCA, Carpenter served as Regional Director at March of Dimes and on Lake Area United Way's development team as Senior Relationship Manager, where she worked to secure support from major Lake County corporations. Executive Director of Challenger Learning Center of Northwest Indiana, Rebecca Manis shared that, “Carpenter’s skills, dedication, and strong work ethic made partnering with her easy and valuable”.

Jared Tauber, Partner at Tauber Law Offices in Schererville Ind. noted Carpenter’s success in working for nonprofits and building relationships throughout the region brings tremendous promise for HSCA. Tauber stated, “Lisa has developed a large network in both Lake and Porter counties and has been able to connect with so many people”

“Lisa has a great passion for the cause that she is advocating,” said Speros A. Batistatos, President/CEO of South Shore CVA. “She is able to translate that passion into a powerful ask,” he added. As Chief Development Officer, Carpenter’s role in fundraising and donor relations are crucial to raising awareness and funds to support HSCA’s mission - to lead the community in the humane treatment of animals.

Humane Society Calumet Area leads major initiatives in Northwest Indiana with the Adoption & Intake Centers and the Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic in Munster Ind., Paws Resale Shoppe in Highland Ind., and Moraine Ridge Wildlife Center in Valparaiso Ind. HSCA’s 14th annual Gala, Critter Carnivale, will be held this year on March 25th at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Rd, Munster, Ind. 46321, from 5-9pm. Founded by concerned citizen Miss Evelyn Sweitzer in 1941, Humane Society Calumet Area aims to lead the community in the humane treatment of animals by providing vital community services. In 2016, 1,372 homeless animals found homes through HSCA and 77 lost animals were reunited with their families. Additional HSCA services include spay and neuter surgeries for families with financial hardship at Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic, a humane education team that teaches local children about pet safety and compassion, and rehabilitation for wildlife at Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
