How the UnitedHealthcare UCard can simplify care

How the UnitedHealthcare UCard can simplify care

Accessing all the benefits a Medicare Advantage plan offers and should not feel like more work than it’s worth. Plan members typically receive multiple cards to access plan benefits as well as reward cards for completing health activities.

UnitedHealthcare helps to simplify the member experience with the UnitedHealthcare UCardTM. The UCard was introduced in 2022 to nearly 180,000 individual Medicare Advantage members in 34 plans across the upper Midwest states.

“UCard is our attempt to make health care simpler and more accessible,” said Nick Holden, vice president of product for UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement.

How it works

Instead of juggling multiple cards, UCard combines the member ID, over-the-counter benefit, earned rewards, and for select Dual Special Needs Plan members their healthy food benefit, into an all-in-one member card.

Members can use their UCard to:

  • Check in at the provider and pharmacy
  • Shop for healthy food, over-the-counter products and other items at more than 32,000 retail locations
  • Spend reward dollars after completing eligible health activities, like getting a flu shot or a mammogram, having a UnitedHealthcare® HouseCalls visits, or achieving monthly step goals and more

Managing UCard can be simpler than managing multiple cards, too. Members can visit the UCard Hub on their member website to complete actions like checking their over-the-counter and rewards balances and shopping for OTC products or covered healthy foods online – empowering access to more of their benefits right at their fingertips.

UCard is ready to help ease the Medicare Advantage experience – and to make one’s purse or wallet feel a lot less cluttered.
