How customers are requesting the “custom” at Currie Motors Ford of Valpo

When it comes to crafting the perfect vehicle, Currie Motors Ford of Valpo knows how to serve its customers.

“The customers will usually be searching on the internet through our third-party sites or Ford.com,” said Inventory Manager Christopher Logan. “Then, they can build their car on the website and print it out.”

With the print out in-hand, customers can then visit Currie Motors Ford of Valpo to bring their custom car to life through the dealership’s custom factory ordering system. At Currie Motors Ford of Valpo, prospective customers can personalize any vehicle on the lot.

“They can customize colors, engine size, seats, everything like that,” Logan said.

If the inventory is in stock, Logan and other sales associates try to get a similar model out for a test drive so the driver is comfortable with their order.

“We want them to drive something similar, so we’ll allow them to drive a vehicle that matches that. If we don’t have it in stock, that’s where the order factory process comes in,” Logan said.

Once the car build is finalized, it’s Logan’s job to input each of the car's accessories into the Ford custom factory order system.

“I take into account every option they have and build it out, and we do this for every single mode” Logan said.

Recently, Logan said Currie Motors Ford of Valpo has seen an influx in custom orders due to low inventory levels across the country. Although that is not the case at the Valparaiso Ford location, Logan explained how customers still have options.

“Here, we do have a rather large inventory, but we don’t have every option that the customer wants," Logan said.

By allowing customers to get the exact features they would like, Logan reminds customers who are looking to place orders like these to remain patient.

“Customers just have to be a little patient with the process with everything going on in the world right now,” Logan said. “With the pandemic, imports, and the semiconductor chips, and the shortage of those, it can take time."

As always, Logan said that Currie Motors Ford of Valpo continues to keep their customers informed about all orders and other dealership matters.

“We keep them informed about the process, where their vehicle is in the process, and other details,” Logan said. “We’re doing the best we can, Ford is doing the best it can.”

Delivery times vary on each model and the commodities that are available.

“Some customer orders will arrive in about eight weeks, and there are other ones that might take four to eight months,” Logan said.

Logan encourages customers to choose Currie Motors Ford of Valpo for any of their custom factory order needs.

“We’ll direct customers to meet with a sales professional, myself, or a sales manager who will let them know about their order,” Logan said.
