 Community Healthcare System recently welcomed eight practitioners to the Community Care Network, Inc. (CCNI) team of physicians. The specialties these physicians represent include interventional cardiology, ear, nose & throat (otolaryngology), gynecologic oncology, orthopedic surgery, pain management, pediatrics and podiatry. The CCNI group of physicians are closely affiliated with Community Healthcare System’s hospitals: Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and specialty hospital, Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point.

Interventional cardiologist Amit Kakkar, MD, completed his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He completed fellowships in cardiology at Rush University Medical Center, in interventional cardiology at Brown University/The Rhode Island Hospital/Miriam Hospital Providence, RI, and vascular medicine and endovascular interventions at Montefiore Medical Center Jacobi Medical Center, Bronx, NY. He earned his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA.

Specializing in gynecologic oncology, Rajul Kothari, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Minnesota and her residency at The Ohio State University. Also specializing in gynecologic oncology, Sameer Sharma, MD, earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College. He completed his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He served his residency at the Aurora Sinai Medical Center. Orthopedic surgeon Jonathan Paul Edgington, MD, completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at UChicago Medicine. His fellowship in adult reconstruction was completed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He earned his doctorate from the University of Cincinnati-College of Medicine.
