Hospitals of Community Healthcare System welcome practitioners to physician network

Community Healthcare System recently welcomed several practitioners to the Community Care Network, Inc. (CCNI) team of physicians. Among the specialties these physicians and surgeons represent are general surgery, internal medicine, neurocritical care, neuroendovascular neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, podiatry and pulmonology. The CCNI group of physicians are closely affiliated with Community Healthcare System’s hospitals: Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and specialty hospital, Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point.

Board certified general surgeon Carlos Gonzalez, MD, FACS, completed his residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. Board certified obstetrician and gynecologist Ilona Carlos, MD, FACOG, is on staff at Community Hospital. She completed her internship and residency at Presence St. Joseph in Chicago. Internal medicine practitioner Alison Petrovich, MD, is board certified. She completed her residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. Neurocritical care physician Alok Patel, MD, has joined the stroke care teams at Community Hospital, St. Catherine Hospital and St. Mary Medical Center. He is board certified in neurology, having completed his internship at St. Mary Mercy in Livonia and his residency at the Florida Department of Health through Cooper Hospital University Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Ross University. Sherman Chen, MD, is a neuroendovascular neurologist on staff at Community Hospital, St. Catherine Hospital, St. Mary Medical Center and Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, specializing in stroke care. He is board certified in vascular neurology. He completed a fellowship at the Texas Stroke Institute at HCA North Texas in interventional neurology and at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in vascular neurology. He completed his residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Rush University Medical Center. As a neuroendovascular neurologist, he follows up with patients at two locations, in Munster (801 MacArthur Blvd, Suite 405, 219-836-5167) and Crown Point (10215 Broadway Ave, 219-661-6100).
