Hospice of the Calumet Area Volunteer Spotlight

When Hospice of the Calumet Area's William J. Riley Memorial Residence was recently in need of two dishwashers, volunteers Bruce and Janet Kukuch decided to donate one.

Bruce asked Lowe’s if they could possibly discount a second dishwasher and surprisingly, the manager donated it. Hospice of the Calumet Area is grateful to Bruce and Janet for their passion for Cherishing Life and their wonderful commitment to our organization. In true Bruce fashion, the engineer in him feverishly worked at disassembling parts from the old dishwasher just in case we need them at a later time.

"Bruce is just a wonderful guy that will do anything for HCA," said Joan McInerney, development director. "We are very lucky to have both Janet and Bruce in our wonderful Cherishing Life Family."

The couple spends their time as volunteers at the in-patient facility assisting patients and families and helping with groceries.
