Horizon Bank is pleased to announce the grant awarded to Dunebrook, Inc. A check in the amount of $5,000 was presented by Horizon Bank’s Operational Risk Specialist, Krysta Loucks to Dunebrook’s Development Director Cathy Laughlin and Executive Director Dr. Tammy Gierke Button.
The grant will be used towards Dunebook’s public education program. The objective of the program is to present child sexual abuse prevention education to over twenty-nine thousand children and teens K-12. The organizations goal is to empower children with the knowledge and skills to lessen the likelihood that they will become victims, while educating teachers and parents on how to prevent, identify and respond appropriately to suspicions.
Fewer than twenty-five percent of children ever disclose that they have been sexually abused. Ninety-five percent of child sexual abuse is preventable through education. “I am so happy to represent Horizon Bank as we support this organization whose mission is every child: safe, happy and healthy,” Loucks said of the grant.
