What does a 3-D chalk artist from Florida, a glass blower from Arizona, and an acrylic artist from Chesterton have in common? They will all participate in Frontline Foundations’ second annual Hooked on Art Live Street Art Festival premiering in Downtown Chesterton on Saturday, September 28.
From 9-5pm the streets will be filled with vibrant and original creations as artists from across the region and country demonstrate their unique talents at Thomas Centennial Park. Oil painters, ceramic sculptors, glass blowers, and chalk artists will showcase their unique talents and masterpieces at this outdoor family festival. Beyond one of a kind street art, the festival will include live music, an interactive Kid’s Corner, and one-of-a-kind shopping opportunities.
“Hooked on Art will be Frontline’s premier signature event in the town of Chesterton,” said Development Director Derek Frazier. “Hooked on Art is not only going to be a great community event, but a great way for Frontline to raise funds to support client treatment scholarships.”
Frontline will also host a free two-hour “3-D Chalk Art Workshop” on Friday, September 27. The workshop will be hosted by international street painting artist Jennifer Chaparro and includes free chalk art materials and interactive 3-D demonstrations. The event is from 3-5pm and will be held at Chesterton’s Library Service Center (100 West Indiana). Participants must pre-register and to RSVP, please contact Frontline at (219) 728-1638.
Live music throughout the day of the festival will be provided by Chicago blues legend Glenn Kaiser, Lou Shields, Jerry Clemons of the Nick Danger Band, 15UP, Peter Goodwin Bailey, and Victory Garden.
